COBRA

Under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), group health plans sponsored by employers with 20 or more employees are required to offer continuation of coverage to employees and their dependents for 18 months.

This period may be extended, depending on the qualifying event causing the group coverage to end.

The covered individual must pay the entire premium on a monthly basis, as well as an administrative fee.

You can learn about your rights under COBRA by going to the U.S. Department of Labor's "Frequently Asked Questions about COBRA Continuation Coverage" on the agency's website , or call toll-free 1-866-275-7922 to get a referral to the best place for answers to your questions.
