Mandated Benefits and Mandated Offers
Virginia's insurance laws require that most health insurance plans, including managed care plans:
-- provide certain benefits, known as mandated benefits, in the individual and group contracts they offer in Virginia
-- offer to the individual policyholder, or to the employer in the case of group coverage, the option to purchase certain benefits, known as mandated offers of coverage.
If you would like to read any of the specific mandated benefit and mandated offer statutes, Virginia's Bureau of Insurance has a convenient list of them with links to each statute. To see this list, click here.
